Rejoice in Misery - 1 Peter 1:3b-5
Suffering will come to all of us despite our creed, culture, color and social status. And suffering, almost all the time, takes away something or someone from us. For example our health, wealth, bursaries, accommodation and loved ones.
Think about the effects of Covid 19, and you will soon realize that lives and livelihoods were snatched away.
However, Christian, in the midst of suffering, in the midst of misery; whatever it may look like for you, REJOICE!
Why? "For God has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead and into an inheritance that can never perish, spoil or fade - kept in heaven for you."
REJOICE IN MISERY, even though you lose much in this life, for you have gained much now and in the next life.
For you have been forgiven your sins, and made right with the true and living God. He has given you eternal life and glorification. This means a new and improved body, free of sin, decay and death, awaits you. And all of this, dear friends, is kept safe by Jesus who will give it to you, fully and finally, when you meet him face to face.
Therefore, REJOICE in what you have been given in the midst of MISERY.
May God richly bless you.
Your brother in Christ,
Steven Gounder.
