Ziningi, TBT Alumni 2005, describes how the Lord used TBT to reach and grow her:
The Lord reached me through a TBT ministry worker, who evangelized me on campus during what I think was me killing time before a lecture. I had never heard the gospel before. The Gospel, clearly, simply and plainly explained is extremely powerful, exactly as Paul says. That very afternoon when I got to my room at Res, I went on my knees, I prayed the sinners' prayer and I gave my life to Christ.
I thought that was where it would end. Little did I know that it was only the beginning of something new. Sometime later when I notified the ministry worker of what I had done, he was so delighted and made a big deal out of it. I didn’t understand why, but now I do. He started inviting me to attend bible talks and introduced me to fellow students in the Lord. This made me a little uncomfortable, it’s not exactly what I’d signed up for. Though it took me a bit of a while to eventually visit, once I began tasting the Word of God and started discovering its riches, I never looked back. In fact, I regretted not commencing sooner!
From there I was discipled, ever so gently, patiently, and lovingly. My hand was held tightly as I navigated the effects (some difficult and confusing) of being a new convert. Through regular one-on-ones and the unpacking of God’s Word with its implications in terms of how I ought to respond, a solid foundation was laid, one on which I still stand today. The necessity of discipleship in a Christian’s life cannot be overstated. It is an absolute must. The older I get, the more I appreciate its value in my walk with the Lord. It is an anchor. It is so imperative for success on the path less travelled.
I can never thank God enough for using TBT to reach me with the good news and for growing me in Christ.
