When Nothing Makes Sense.
In times of confusion and ambiguity,
I find solace in the silence of the One who remains.
Despite the storm and the length of the night,
I am confident that you are strengthening me in the shadows.
Despite chaos, you maintain control and create a lasting story.
Even when things don't seem to fit,
I can take comfort in knowing that the struggle has been won.
On the cross, you demonstrated the full scope of love.
Despite my pain, your grace keeps me content.
Though I do not understand, despite feeling dry in my prayers,
I have faith that God will not let me down.
"You are my Shepherd when I am lost in the fray,
Gently leading me even when I cannot see the way."
I'll be true to Your word, even if it's difficult,
and know that my tears are petitions to You.
Even when things don't make sense,
God's kindness is always present.
He speaks in silence and calms my fears.
I wrote this poem with a hope that readers Christian may be drawn back to God even in times when nothing makes sense, and times are tough. It is, unfortunately, inevitable to feel confusion and frustration in this world. As we live with other sinful humans, attend classes with them and work with them, there is a lot that could happen. Sometimes we hurt each other without intending to and that hurt may draw some in deep pits and they’re left questioning almost everything around that, I know this from experience.
All you need in that moment is for at least one thing to make sense, to spark some light. The world may have a variety of ‘antidotes to this, self-help therapy is one of them. But I believe the only true and most effective antidote to our confusion and frustration is none other than God and His word from the Scriptures. One of the things I enjoy about God’s word, especially in Psalms, is how relatable they are to our struggles today. How the psalmists express themselves to God and trust Him with their big emotions, and to be honest It is shocking. All this reminds me how true 2 Timothy 3:15-17 is, not only for” … teaching, rebuking, correcting” but also for “training in righteousness, so that the man of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work”. The psalms train us to come to God with our burdening feelings.
