God’s oases of mercy and grace
“Because of the Lord’s faithful love we do not perish, for his mercies are new every morning; great is your faithfulness! I say the Lord is my portion, therefore I will put my hope in him.”
- Lamentations 3: 22-24
The grace of God meets us at our time of need. It always comes right on God’s, time at just the right moment that the Lord has ordained it. Often times, we get so caught up in our circumstances and how things ought to pan out - we begin to worry and doubt as to whether we will have the outcomes that we hope for and expect in the circumstances at hand. Most often than not, God’s mercy comes in ways that are unexpected to us. It could be a hug from a friend, a word of encouragement from a stranger, food when there is no money, a job, help from a stranger, provision and sustanence in situations that you thought you would not be able to withstand.
It may not be what we had expected or hoped for, but from the Lord who is steadfast in love, gracious and sovereign - his mercies are new every morning, like the waves that perpetually come at the shore, different than the one before but yet always guaranteed to arrive at the shore each time. His mercies are above and beyond all that we ask for and think we need, and his mercies he gives to us without limit and we can trust to receive grace for each day, moment and situation. So we need not be anxious when we will receive the needs for the day and particular situation. Because we know who it is that is sovereign who looks after us we know that we will receive what we need for the day’s, season’s or moment’s needs.
All this stems from the Lord’s faithful love which does not perish. Because of his love for us he is always looking after us, looking after our needs and welfare in ways beyond our imagination and thinking. His love for us in turn ought to make us individuals who are satisfied and hopeful in our heavenly father. Because of his love, we are not to chase after and pursue false loves and hopes. He is our portion and in whom we find hope in - let us not be found to be seeking it in other things. Let us not also be found living in fear for we have the Lord who knows us and loves us, therefore we can boldly come to him and boldly with humility face all kinds of moments.
